Living in the Postcard that is San Miguel de Allende

Well, I'm feeling better finally– really for the first time since arriving here almost two weeks ago. It's hard to separate out the place from not feeling well. San Miguel is gorgeous, but I can't help but blame it a little for making Mike and me sick during our vacation. :)

Speaking of how gorgeous it is here, I thought I'd share some photos.

As beautiful as it is in SMA, I know that I would not want to live here. It's funny because I thought I would fall in love with it and never want to leave. I think the biggest factor is the weather. It's cool and pretty at night and warm in the daytime, which is wonderful, but it's also dry and desert-like. For example, these pictures are of the botanical gardens, where Mike and I went to an outdoor concert. When I think "botanical," I think flowers. Not the case here.

San Miguel is also very much a vacation destination. It doesn't feel obnoxiously touristy to me, but it also doesn't feel like a real workaday city, which is really what I prefer, since I'm working all the time myself. So while SMA is a unique little gem of a town, a month here will be enough for me.
